A Little Bit About Me:I am Mrs. Berrett and I am Willowcreek Middle School's dance teacher. When I was in Junior High I auditioned to be on my Junior High’s dance company and my dance journey has helped me develop as a person ever since that scary audition in seventh grade. So you can know my background a little bit I’ll tell you about some milestones on my journey. After lots of years of school and studio dance I was fortunate enough to receive Utah’s Dance State Sterling Scholar year of 2008. Then after graduating from Lone Peak High I studied at the University of Utah getting my degree in Modern Dance. In the process I have had a lot of teaching opportunities. I have taught in a studio for the past six years, I have taught dance in both elementary school and high school, I have taught in schools in Africa and had numerous other opportunities to practice teaching. I love to teach and I love to dance.
I am a believer in High Expectations. I expect my Willowcreek dance students to be responsible, dedicated, caring and capable dancers and people. I know you students have so much to offer! You will be our world’s future leaders and teachers and I cannot wait to see what great things you are going to do. I believe that every inventor, explorer, discoverer, teacher, or any other pioneer in this world has needed courage and creativity in order to make a difference. It is for this reason that I am an advocate of nurturing creativity. I am a creative thinker. My own creative involvement in dance, art and music has enriched and colored my life. The place where my own creativity has been most nurtured has been in the classroom. For this reason I have always wanted to become a teacher. Dance has helped me to gain confidence in who I am and what I have to offer the world. I want you students to be able to find that through their dance and life experiences as well. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT YEAR TOGETHER! |
